We are honored to share Dr. Carolyn Roy-Bornstein’s blog contribution with our readers.  Dr. Roy-Bornstein brings a unique perspective to NeuroNotes since she is a physician, a parent as well as a caregiver.  She has written a memoir, “Crash: A Mother, a Son, and the Journey from Grief to Gratitude,” that weaves this perspective throughout the telling of the story of her son, Neil.  Neil and his girlfriend were involved in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.  Neil sustained a traumatic brain injury, and his girlfriend did not survive.

Dr. Roy-Bornstein’s most recent project was editing the book, “Chicken Soup for the Soul: Recovering From Traumatic Brain Injuries: 101 Stories of Hope Healing and Hard Work.”  Her blog contribution is excerpted from the book and examines the healing power of words.  We hope you find it as inspiring as we did.
