Soldiers’ Art Shows What TBI Feels Like

Sometimes there are feelings and experiences that simply cannot be put into words. Traumatic brain injury is certainly one of those experiences, even though those of us in the field try every day to convey the experience in our attempts to spread awareness.

As part of 60 Minutes’ recent exposé into the plight of our veterans who are suffering traumatic brain injury and were neglected during their time in the service, CBS also shared images of masks that soldiers made during their time in therapy for their injuries. These masks, and their accompanying explanations, serve as some of the best looks into the minds of soldiers dealing with traumatic brain injury while also trying to acclimate back to civilian society.
