For readers of NeuroNotes who have seen the film “Concussion” starring Will Smith as Dr. Bennet Omalu who took on the NFL to prove that multiple concussions in retired football players caused permanent brain changes or Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) the 166 concussions of 2015 is a startling number. Will these players be tracked during and after their NFL careers? Will there be rehabilitative and specialized medical care made available to them? What is the NFL really doing to reduce concussive brain injuries? Do players know the risk of multiple concussions?
