A Mother Shares Her Perspective On Caring For a Concussed Child

Just about everyone knows someone who has had a concussion or traumatic brain injury, but few have the insight and close connection to the experience of supporting someone through a brain injury like a parent of a child who had a brain injury.

Kim Chiomento, staff writer for The Unionville Times, is one such parent. Her son suffered a concussion in early August, and Chiomento has since been thrown into the crash course on brain injuries that many parents are forced into.

She shared her experience in a recent article, and it brings a unique insight into the process of being diagnosed and treated for a brain injury at a point when these techniques and our understanding of these brain injuries is changing at an ever quickening pace.
